The last prayer update of academic year of 2026!
My last prayer update of the academic year, and what a year it’s been. As we enter these last few weeks, it’s so good to look back on all that God has been doing through us, and even despite us! We will be producing an annual review at the end of term, summarising the whole year, but for now I’ll give you an update on June’s activities, and a request for prayers as we push to the end of the season.
Maisie, Abby and the team have simply performed miracles in our primary schools! They’ve delivered multiple assemblies, workshops, and an updated Transit session to our highest ever number of schools. It’s an absolute privilege to work with these wonderful people, who simply love Jesus and want to find ways of letting others know that He is there. Thousands of children and staff across the borough have heard about Jesus, and the message of hope and forgiveness he brings. We’ve even managed to cross the border as we ventured into Malmesbury Primary in Merton, who were simply delighted with our workshops, and hope for more. We should have been in Cuddington Croft as well, but the heat put paid to that session. Hoping to rearrange…
In secondary schools I’ve completed my series of Self Esteem with year 9 at Cheam High, with one girl approaching me at the end of the session asking if I had a Bible she could read, as she wanted to find out who this Jesus was. I was delighted to give her one in my bag and she’s promised to read it!
I’ve also delivered our Persecuted Christians lessons at Cheam High and Sutton Grammar, and also Pilgrimage to Sutton Gramar. We were also delighted to attend Carshalton Girls with 3 local church leaders for a ‘Grill a Christian’ session. These are always incredibly powerful, as we consistently get asked to talk about Jesus and why we follow Him, and we always pray that our words will land on good soil.
On Sunday 14th I spoke at St Michael’s and All Angels, Wallington, and on 28th June I visited Holy Trinity, Wallington, meeting many old and new friends, and I was once again overwhelmed by the incredible support we receive, with many more committing to join our prayer support, and several promising to give financially through our Giving of the 5000 campaign.
Speaking of which, we’re seeing a significant response to this call, as faithful believers, who so desperately want to see the words of Jesus spoken in schools continue, give what they can to help us do so. If you haven’t yet done so, please consider being one of the hundreds who enable us to tell children about Jesus, when there are so many voices telling them not to.
Maisie represented SSW at the Church of the Good Shepherd Summer Fair, and met many supporting friends there too. What a wonderful family we have, with Christians from all across the spectrum wanting to be part of our mission. Thank you!
Thank you for your continued support and prayers!
Simon

-
- THANK YOU GOD for the incredible team of volunteers we have at Sutton Schoolswork! We are coming towards the end of not just a very busy term but a very busy year! We could not have shared the Truth about Jesus with so many children and teachers of Sutton without the amazing commitment of the volunteer team. Myself and Abby are so thankful for them every single day!
- THANK YOU GOD for the flood of workshop bookings we have already had come in for next year! We already have 14 schools booked in for school based workshops next year & 24 schools booked in for Easter Experience 2027. We do not take it for granted how much God has blessed us with strong relationships with so many schools all the way across the borough.
- PLEASE PRAY for the volunteers over the Summer break. Please pray for good rest, relaxation and refreshment time for them and pray for God’s blessings to pour over them and fill them up to the brim.
- PLEASE PRAY for the children of Sutton over the Summer holidays. For many children, school is a safer and more joyful place than home and the Summer holidays can be hard. Please pray for God’s joy, peace and protection over them as they have 6 weeks away from school. Give them safe people to talk to and may they come to know that Jesus is always their friend who they can trust.
- PRAISE GOD for more than 40 assemblies across primary schools in Sutton this half term!
Our primary assembly theme is Looking forward! based on the story of God parting the Red Sea in the book of Exodus. Children have been encouraged to look forward to their next steps, consider what emotions they are feeling and think about who they can talk to. We have shared that Christians believe that God knows our next steps and is always with us, guiding and supporting us.
‘“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
- PLEASE PRAY that staff and children would know God’s love for them and His presence with them, at all times.
- PRAISE GOD! More than half our regular schools have booked all their primary assemblies for the next academic year!
- PLEASE PRAY that the remaining schools would respond to us in the final weeks of term, so that we can make plans for the autumn.
- PLEASE PRAY for new bookings in schools we haven’t visited for sometime: Hackbridge, Muschamp, Seaton House and Sutton High. We have had emails from Muschamp & Sutton High recently – we hope to book in some assemblies soon!
We are so thankful to God for great ongoing relationships with almost all of the primary schools in Sutton!
- PLEASE PRAY for open doors into Beddington Park, Collingwood, Harris Academy and Homefield.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers!

PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- A Christian teacher at Glenthorne who is trying to convince the Senior Leadership Team to allow a CU to be formed. Meeting with a lot of reluctance, please pray for them as they seek wisdom as to how to respond to the latest refusal.
- A teacher (not Christian) at Oaks Park who wants to be our liaison as we set up a CU there. She is willing to have her room used for it, but the SLT are being very slow to respond.
- Lunchtimes at Carshalton Girls are changing next term, meaning we can now offer a CU during school, rather than having to one of the many offered after school on a Tuesday afternoon. We have, thanks to God, secured 2 new female volunteers who are happy to lead it every week. Please pray for this new venture.
- I am speaking at St Andrew’s URC, Cheam, this Sunday, and am looking forward to seeing more friends, and maybe new ones, there.
Bless you all as you pray for us, and may you also know His presence.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers!
